Poster #1
For this poster I wanted to create something a bit more basic. I love posters with a bright center focus which is what I wanted to have in this poster. My favorite patterns and shapes I am drawn to right now is checkers, specifically red checkers and star clusters. I wanted to incorporate both of these elements into my piece. When doing these projects, I went into the mindset of using these letters I created to create advertisements. Though the language is made up and I am not 100% certain what these words would mean, I did love the idea of this poster being an abstract advertisement for some festival. I really enjoyed keeping the text black onto this poster with red because the type feels hand drawn by ink.
Poster 2
Media like movies, games and television have always been something that has interested me. Over the last year I have been really into watching Graphic Designers make fake posters, advertisements, newspapers, etc, for these things. Even if they aren't central focused and in the background, it is so cool to see the process and the little details. I can only dream to have a career like that. For this poster I wanted to incorporate that element. I wanted to create a poster / advertisement for something you would see in the background of a game, movie or show. I am really into the y2k aesthetic, I love the colors, the boldness, the way it incorporates 2D and 3D elements. I wanted to try and use those elements in this. Creating this poster was a challenge, it was hard to figure out what was too much, what was too less. I also went back and forth with the circular design in the middle. I originally didn't have it there but after talking and showing my design to a few peers and friends, they thought the center circle looked better because it appeared that the objects were coming from it, almost like a vortex, which is what I was trying to go for.
